I looked up the 8 hostels from RJ on TFTHostels. So if anyone likes to book 1 off the hostels, you can compare the rates and availability here:
NY: Big Apple Hostel
Madrid: Miralva
Rome: Yellow House
Berlin: 3 little pigs
Queenstown: Bumbles Backpackers
Hotel Namaskar, Cozy Corner Guesthouse and D & D Inn not on Hostelworld, Hostelbookers and Hostelsclub

So still many hostels are not available with the big Hostel booking companies. Work todo!
